THEO VAN DOESBURG - A new expression of Life, Art and Technology

*** From 26 FEBRUARY ’16 until 29 MAY ’16 *** EN Travel back to the beginning of the twentieth century with Theo van Doesburg and inhale the revolutionary atmosphere of the avant-garde in the exhibition Theo van Doesburg: A New Expression of Life, Art and Technology. Having founded the art movement De Stijl in the Netherlands with Piet Mondrian in 1917, Van Doesburg set off across Europe to promote their abstract visual language internationally. In Paris he encountered the art of the Dadaists and began writing Dadaist poetry himself. In Weimar he presented his new awareness of beauty to the Bauhaus architects. He travelled round Europe and made his pioneering visual language appear not only in paintings, but also in buildings, clothing, furniture and interiors. Een nieuwe kijk op leven, kunst en technologie. In 1917 richtte hij samen met Piet Mondriaan de kunststroming De Stijl op in Nederland. Om hun abstracte beeldtaal internationaal te promoten trok Van Doesburg door Europa. In Parijs kwam hij in aanraking met de kunst van de dadaïsten en begon zelf dadaïstische poëzie te schrijven. In Weimar stelde hij zijn nieuwe schoonheidsbewustzijn voor aan de architecten van het Bauhaus. Hij reisde Europa rond en zorgde ervoor dat zijn vooruitstrevende beeldtaal niet alleen opdook in schilderijen, maar ook in gebouwen, kledij, meubels en interieurs. En 1917, il fonde aux Pays-Bas avec Piet Mondrian le courant artistique « De Stijl ». Pour faire la promotion de leur langage imagier abstrait, Van Doesburg voyage à travers toute l'Europe. À Paris, il découvre le dadaïsme et se lance dans l'écriture de vers dadaïstes. À Weimar, il présente son nouvel idéal de beauté aux architectes du Bauhaus. Van Doesburg a sillonné nos pays et son langage novateur a influencé les toiles des peintres, mais aussi l'architecture, la mode, le mobilier et la décoration intérieure.
